Freon gas alarm (refrigerant leak alarm) Freon (refrigerant R22/R134a/R410A/R404A, etc.) alarm, used to detect refrigerant leakage in refrigeration systems; most Freon gases are heavier than air, and after leakage they settle and accumulate at low levels. High concentrations can cause suffocation and cardiac stimulation, and decompose into toxic fumes at high temperatures. Most are non-flammable themselves, but excessive concentrations in enclosed spaces can displace oxygen and cause suffocation. They are divided into two main categories: fixed industrial alarm systems and portable leak detectors.
