The UK alphasense catalytic combustion methane sensor (CH4 sensor)
The UK alphasense catalytic combustion methane sensor (CH4 sensor) CH-A3 operates on the principle of catalytic combustion thermal effect, where a measuring bridge is formed by a detection element paired with a compensation element. When a combustible gas is encountered, it combusts on the surface of the detection element's carrier and under the action of the catalyst, causing the carrier temperature to rise, which correspondingly increases the internal platinum wire resistance, thereby unbalancing the balanced bridge and outputting an electrical signal proportional to the concentration of the combustible gas.
