Hot-wire alcohol sensor
The MR513 hot-wire alcohol sensor operates on the principle that gas adsorption on the surface of a metal oxide semiconductor causes changes in thermal and electrical conductivity, with the gas concentration determined by the change in resistance of a platinum coil. The MR513 consists of a detection element and a compensation element paired to form two arms of a Wheatstone bridge. When exposed to alcohol, the resistance of the detection element decreases, causing a change in the bridge's output voltage, which increases proportionally with increasing gas concentration. The compensation element serves as a reference and provides temperature compensation.
