Fuel moisture sticks 225-7917, 225-7918 are used to assess the moisture content of small forest fuels during prescribed burning operations and determine forest fire danger ratings. Place the sticks in a bed of accumulated needle or leaf litter to measure moisture content. Then weigh the exposed sticks on a fuel moisture scale; the weight above the oven-dry weight represents fuel moisture. Sticks should be replaced every 90 days.
