Product Introduction
BOSH Pressure SensorBMP280 Description:
The BMP280 is an absolute barometric pressure sensor designed for mobile applications. The sensor module is housed in an extremely compact package. Thanks to its small size and low power consumption, this device can be used in battery-powered devices such as mobile phones, GPS modules, or watches. Like its predecessor, the BMP180, the BMP280 is based on Bosch's proven piezoresistive pressure sensor technology, offering high accuracy and linearity, as well as long-term stability and high EMC robustness. Multiple device operating options provide maximum flexibility, allowing optimization of power consumption, resolution, and filtering performance.
The BMP280 is Bosch's newly launched digital barometric pressure sensor, offering excellent performance at a low price, with a relative accuracy of ±0.12 hPa (equivalent to ±1 meter) and a sensor power consumption of only 2.7 μA. The BMP280 features the industry's smallest package, using an extremely compact 8-pin metal-lid LGA package with a footprint of only 2.0 × 2.5 mm² and a package height of 0.95 mm. It includes pressure and temperature measurement functions. This barometric pressure sensor supports SPI and I2C communication interfaces. Compared to the previous generation BMP180, its accuracy has been significantly improved, making it ideal for low-cost multi-rotor flight controller applications, at only one-quarter the price of the currently popular MS5611. The sensor module's small size and low power consumption of 2.74 μA @ 1 Hz enable use in battery-driven devices. Emerging applications such as indoor navigation, healthcare, and GPS improvement require high relative accuracy and low TCO.
The BMP280 is well-suited for applications such as floor-level detection, as the sensor offers excellent relative accuracy of ±0.12 hPa, equivalent to a ±1 m altitude difference, with a temperature coefficient of offset (TCO) of only 1.5 Pa/K (equivalent to 12.6 cm/K). As the successor to the widely implemented BMP180, which began mass use in mobile phones for barometric pressure measurement in 2011, the BMP280 delivers high performance in all applications requiring precise pressure measurement. Additionally, the BMP280 offers greater application flexibility with new filter modes and an SPI interface, and its footprint is 63% smaller compared to the BMP180.
