Product Introduction
1. Description of IoLine TrisB pH Electrode
The IoLine triple-compatible pH electrode uses a patented triple-chamber system with an iodine or iodine-iodide reservoir reference electrode. The standard hydrogen electrode has been proven difficult to achieve practical significance beyond theoretical importance in real-world applications. The Ag/AgCl reference system, which is the most common reference system, can cause measurement instability due to potential changes with temperature variations or reactions with silver ions in the measurement solution at the diaphragm. In contrast, the IoLine pH electrode has the advantage of lower temperature sensitivity and a metal-ion-free reference system.
Furthermore, these electrode assemblies utilize the fact that iodine is continuously replenished from the patented triple-chamber reservoir system. The first chamber contains the supply used to refresh the reference electrolyte, and the second chamber contains the reference system iodine to maintain the necessary I3- concentration to create a stable reference potential. The connection between the second and third chambers, which contains the exchange bridge electrolyte, is made by an internal diaphragm. The bridge electrolyte also provides contact between the electrode and the sample through the diaphragm.
