The SHTW2 is Sensirion's second-generation WLCSP (Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package) humidity sensor, providing a complete digital temperature and humidity sensor system in an ultra-compact size that can be integrated into almost any application. The SHTW2 uses flip-chip packaging, a mature technology that represents a simple and very small packaging method for semiconductor chips. With a footprint of only 1.3 x 0.7 x 0.5 mm³, the SHTW2 is about one-seventh the size of similar DFN humidity sensors, opening up a new category of ultra-miniature humidity sensors and ushering in countless new opportunities in the IoT, wearable, and mobile markets.
The SHTW2 is based on Sensirion's CMOSens® technology, providing a complete sensor system on a single chip, including a capacitive humidity sensor, a bandgap temperature sensor, analog and digital signal processing, an A/D converter, calibration data memory, and a digital communication interface supporting I2C fast mode.
The sensor measures humidity from 0 to 100 %RH and temperature from -30°C to 100°C, with typical accuracy of ±3 %RH and ±0.4°C. An operating voltage of 1.8 V and low power consumption make the SHTW2 humidity sensor suitable for wearable applications with extremely stringent power requirements. With Sensirion's industry-recognized high quality and reliability, as well as constant accuracy over a wide measurement range, the SHTW2 humidity sensor offers unprecedented cost-performance.
