SG01XL-C5About Silicon Carbide (SiC) for UV Photodiodes:
SiC has exceptional advantages: it can withstand high-intensity radiation, is almost insensitive to visible light, produces low dark current, and has fast response. These characteristics make SiC an excellent material for semiconductor UV detectors that can suppress visible light. SiC detectors can operate at temperatures up to 170°C for long periods, have a low temperature coefficient (<0.1%/K), and low noise, enabling effective detection of very low radiation intensities (with appropriate amplifiers).
