Product Introduction

Description of the Limiting Current Type Zirconia Oxygen Sensor SO-D2-250-A300C

Limiting current type zirconia oxygen sensor SO-D2-250-A300C can measure oxygen concentration from 0.1 to 25%, with high accuracy, low cross-sensitivity, and long service life. In most cases, only a single-point calibration is required. It is packaged in a threaded aluminum housing with a metal sintered filter, and the cable length is 3 meters. It is widely used in automatic baking ovens.

Working Principle of Limiting Current Type Zirconia Oxygen Sensor SO-D2-250-A300C:

Because the charge carriers in the zirconia electrolyte are oxygen ions, when a voltage is applied to the zirconia electrolytic cell, oxygen is pumped through the zirconia disc to the anode. If a lid with a hole is placed on the cathode of the cell, the rate at which oxygen flows to the cathode is limited. Due to this rate limitation, as the applied voltage gradually increases, the current in the cell reaches saturation. This saturation current is called the limiting current, which is proportional to the oxygen concentration in the surrounding environment.

Applications of the Limiting Current Type Zirconia Oxygen Sensor SO-D2-250-A300C:

Medical: Oxygen concentrators, incubators
Laboratory: inert gas processing cabinets (glove boxes), bacterial incubators
Food industry: Packaging, food inspection, monitoring of fruit ripening process (storage/transport)

Home/Cooking: Automatic baking/roasting (high temperature >100°C)

Measurement technology: Fixed/portable oxygen measuring instruments, measurement with controlled oxygen content, air conditioning and circulation

Safety technology/Monitoring: Fire protection (nitrogen enrichment, e.g., server rooms), greenhouses, wine cellars, gas storage, refineries, diving, fermentation units
Electrical industry: Inert gas processors and cabinets, inert gas welding monitoring, storage with nitrogen enrichment (anti-oxidation), drying equipment, nitrogen concentrators, exhaust gas measurement

Characteristic data of the Limiting Current Type Zirconia Oxygen Sensor SO-D2-250-A300C:

Measuring gas: oxygen concentration
Measuring medium: gas
Measurement principle: limiting current type sensor
Measurement range: Type SO-D2-250-A300C 0.10 –25.0 vol.% O2

Response time (t90)
2 ~25 seconds (depending on sensor type, gas flow, measurement chamber)

Sensor voltage/Heater voltage/Power consumption/Heater cold resistance

Sensor voltage: 0.7 ~ 1.6 volts

Heater voltage: 3.6 ~ 4.4 volts

Power consumption: 1.3 ~ 1.8 watts (depending on application and packaging)

Cold resistance: R(25°C) = 3.25 Ω±0.20Ω

Warm-up time: at least 30 s
Operating temperature: 350°C depends on cable and filter assembly (refer to specifications and cable assembly section)

Allowed volumetric flow rate (sensor purge)
For all sensor types, the flow rate depends on the sensor purge method (DC, flow shape, etc.) and the measurement chamber size, except for SO-E1-xxx (TO8 + soft
tube connection, direct gas flow). Allowed flow rate [ml/min]: 100 - 500 (250 recommended)
Lifetime (MTTF)
~ 20,000 hours(*)
*This depends on the measurement medium. The specified lifetime refers to SO-xx-250 and SO-xx-960 sensors. Failure to reach or exceeding the service life implies slight deviations in specification parameters.

Vibration resistance
TO8 and TO39 package sensors (SO-Bx-xxx, SO-Ex-xxx, SO-Ax-xxx) comply with European standard EN60068-2-6 (sinusoidal vibration test).
