1. Description of Japan Figaro Methane Gas Sensor MEMS Low Power High Sensitivity TGS8410:
TGS8410 is a newly developed semiconductor methane gas sensor by Japan Figaro.
By integrating Japan Figaro's over 50 years of semiconductor gas sensor technology with advanced MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technology, the external dimensions are reduced to 9.2mm in diameter and 12.5mm in height*, and power consumption is successfully reduced by more than 90% compared to existing Figaro methane sensors.
The miniaturized, low-power sensor meets the needs for future mobile and portable product development.
* Sensor height includes the thickness of the mounting substrate.
The gas sensing element uses MEMS technology to integrate a heater on a silicon substrate and a metal oxide semiconductor formed on that substrate.It consumes extremely low power, only 0.087mW (average),and can be applied to power-saving, battery-driven instruments. When the target gas is present in the air,the higher the gas concentration, the higher the sensor's conductivity. Using a simple circuit, thechange in conductivity can be converted into a voltage signal output corresponding to the gas concentration.To eliminate the influence of interfering gases such as alcohol, TGS8410 is equipped with a filter cap, further improvingthe sensitivity characteristics with high selectivity to methane gas.
It is an ideal sensor choice for gas leak detectors in complex environments such ashousehold residential use.
