Product Introduction
I.Fiber Optic Displacement SensorFOD Description:
Using FOD fiber optic position andDisplacement Sensorsdisplacement sensors, high-precision and accurate measurement of position and displacement can be achieved. These sensors are very suitable for measurement in hard-to-reach locations and hazardous environments such as those containing explosive substances.
The main features of FOD fiber optic displacement sensors include complete immunity to EMI and RFI interference, built-in safety devices for hazardous environments, high precision, and a wide operating temperature range.
Today, research engineers in aerospace, defense, or various industrial fields may need to monitor changes in certain characteristics over time to improve processes and product technology. These changes are precisely reflected in displacement during operation, production, or throughout the product's lifecycle. Using FOD linear position and displacement sensors, comprehensive analysis of targets can be conducted in challenging environments.
FOD is a precise position sensor, which is the fiber optic version of the well-known Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT). However, unlike its electronically active counterpart, the FOD fiber optic displacement sensor does not require AC voltage or related wiring for driving signals. Therefore, FOD is completely immune to EMI and RFI, and has no risk of leakage or fire. FOD can be packaged in a very compact housing. The distance between the FOD fiber optic displacement sensor and the signal conditioner can be up to 5 km.
Our unique product design is based on a Thin Film Fabry-Perot Interferometer (TFFI) mounted on a moving shaft. The TFFI acts as a spatially distributed Fabry-Perot interferometric cavity whose length varies along the lateral position. The tip of the optical fiber faces the TFFI surface, and the TFFI moves relative to the fiber end.
The FOD fiber optic linear position and displacement sensor combines all the excellent characteristics you would expect from an ideal sensor. It is small in size, immune to EMI/RFI interference, corrosion-resistant, and offers high accuracy and good reliability. All these features make FOD a suitable product choice for measuring linear position and displacement.
