1. Description of FTI-10 Fiber Optic Signal Conditioner
The FTI-10 is a single-channel, battery-poweredfiber optic signal conditionerdesigned for use with all FISO fiber optic sensors. It is an ideal general-purpose device for single-point measurements in a variety of industrial and R&D applications.
One of the design goals of the FTI-10 is to enable single-channel measurements. Thanks to its unique patented technology, the FTI-10 conditioner can measure the interferometric cavity length of FISO Fabry-Perot fiber optic sensors with high reliability. The FTI-10 offers a resolution of 0.01% of full scale and an accuracy of 0.025% of full scale.
The fiber optic input channel of the FTI-10 is located on the front panel. With the RS-232 communication port and adjustable ±10 V analog output, this signal conditioner becomes a product with standard communication interfaces. Additionally, users can upgrade and update the internal flash firmware of this component.
Data can be stored in the memory buffer for later retrieval, or sent directly to any analog input reading device via the adjustable ±10 V signal on the back panel of the FTI-10.
FISO's fiber optic temperature, pressure, strain, refractive index, and displacement sensors are immune to RF and microwave radiation interference, and they also feature high-temperature resistance, intrinsic safety, and interference-free operation. Since each sensor is assigned a seven-digit calibration factor, the FTI-10 conditioner can automatically identify the sensor type, reducing user test setup time.
The FTI-10 conditioner includes a non-volatile memory buffer with a capacity of up to 50,000 data points. Data logging sequence, duration, and other extraction and processing parameters can be programmed using RS-232 remote commands from the front panel interface or using the simpler software FISO commands included with the product.
The FTI-10 is housed in a rugged 1/8 DIN enclosure, suitable for frequent and prolonged use in industrial environments, and it also offers up to eight hours of continuous operation.
