Product Introduction
1. Description of the EFO Fiber Optic Strain Sensor:
EFO is a specially designed fiber optic strain sensor embedded in concrete.Fiber optic strain sensorIt is an ideal product choice for composite material engineering research and civil engineering applications, such as monitoring stress in buildings, bridges, tunnel linings, and supporting structures during and after construction.
Thanks to FISO's EFO fiber optic strain sensor, smart structure sensors are now available on the market. By strategically arranging sensors in building structures, whether bridges or dams, users can obtain precise information about changes in load and strain in reinforced concrete and mass concrete. Additionally, our EFO fiber optic strain sensors can be used to measure strain in tunnel linings and supporting structures.
The EFO fiber optic strain sensor is 70 mm long. Its successful market introduction is primarily based on breakthrough fiber optic strain sensor technology. This sensor consists of a stainless steel body and two flanges, which allow the sensor to adhere better to the concrete. At the center of the stainless steel body is a longitudinal hole of extremely small diameter, in which the intrinsically safe Fabry-Perot strain sensor is embedded. In addition to intrinsic safety, the EFO also offers immunity to EMI, RFI, and lightning interference. This sensor can be used for static and dynamic measurements. Furthermore, when transmitting signals over long distances, the EFO is completely unaffected by fiber bending.
Our sensors can be used in different types of concrete, including traditional concrete, high-performance concrete, and reactive powder concrete.
We typically embed the EFO embedded strain sensor into concrete in two ways: one is to place it directly into the wet mix, and the other is to encapsulate it in a concrete block that will be placed into the wet mix. We can also install the sensor in hardened concrete by grouting or placing a block containing the sensor into a pre-drilled hole in the concrete. The EFO strain sensor does not affect the properties or performance of the concrete.
The EFO fiber optic strain sensor operates reliably in harsh chemical environments while featuring a robust structure and high flexibility, meeting current requirements for monitoring concrete properties.
