Swiss MicrodulAG Human Detection Capacitive Sensor and Touch Switch MS8891 Description:
MS8891 is an ultra-low-power, dual-channel capacitive sensor specifically designed for human detection. It provides two operating modes: meter mode or switch mode. In switch mode, the sensor capacitance is compared with an internal reference capacitance. If the sensor capacitance is lower or higher than the threshold capacitance, the sensor output changes polarity. Threshold capacitance can be set separately for both channels. MS8891 can also operate in meter mode, measuring the absolute capacitance value of the sensor channel. MS8891 is configured via the I2C serial interface. The comparator output is available on circuit pins in switch mode and can also be read via the I2C serial interface. Various configurations and selection of meter mode can be performed via the I2C serial interface. After programming the configuration into one-time programmable (OTP) memory, MS8891 can operate as a standalone solution in switch mode.
