Product Introduction

MC12G and MC12T are highly integrated dual-channel capacitive sensing chips. They measure single-ended capacitance to ground, directly connected to the capacitor plates, and use very high frequency resonant excitation to measure tiny capacitance changes. The excitation frequency is configurable from 10 to 100MHz, and the frequency measurement output is a 16-bit digital signal, corresponding to a capacitance resolution as high as 0.5fF. The chip features a fully digital design, supporting I2C communication up to 1MHz for configuration and data read/write. It also integrates a low-noise power management module (LDO) to accommodate a wide input voltage range. Additionally, the chip includes temperature sensing circuitry for temperature compensation and other temperature sensing applications.

Capacitive sensing, combined with detection electrodes, enables dielectric detection of different materials. It is a low-power, low-cost, and high-resolution non-contact detection technology. Compared to traditional RC oscillator-based touch capacitance structures, MC12G and MC12T use a very high frequency LC resonance method, providing better electric field penetration. The chip's frequency calculation is fully digitalized through an internal digital signal processing unit, and multiple operating modes can be flexibly configured. MC12T features a compact SOP8 pinout for low-cost dual-channel capacitance detection. MC12G comes in a small QFN16 package, offering more comprehensive internal control.

Compared to similar domestic and international products, MC12G and MC12T offer a wider capacitance excitation frequency range, longer non-contact measurement performance, a wider operating voltage range, and more flexible reference frequency and operating mode configurations. The chip also includes temperature sensing signals for temperature compensation, and the independent dual-channel measurement circuits can compensate each other or be configured with automatic alarm logic. The small size and low cost make these chips widely applicable in smart home appliance liquid level, proximity, and touch scenarios, as well as industrial applications such as automotive oil level, water immersion sensing, food testing, and soil moisture content.
