Product Introduction

1. Description of Fiber Optic Strain Sensor SFO-W:

SFO-W is afiber optic spot-welded strain sensor, mainly for civil engineering applications such as monitoring of dams, bridges, tunnels, and other structures.

The SFO-W fiber optic strain sensor features small size, high accuracy, immunity to EMI/RFI interference, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature resistance.

Today, manufacturers, civil engineering designers, and R&D engineers may need to improve structural technology by monitoring the performance of civil structures. Monitoring specific performance over a period will help enhance the safety and durability of structures. By reasonably arranging SFO-W fiber optic strain sensors in structures, users can obtain precise change information about strain in buildings, bridges, tunnel linings, and supporting structures during construction and after completion. Using SFO-W fiber optic strain sensors enables comprehensive stress/strain analysis of targets in challenging harsh environments.

The SFO-W fiber optic strain sensor consists of a small-diameter stainless steel tube welded onto a steel plate, suitable for spot welding onto stainless steel surfaces.

This sensor is mainly based on breakthrough fiber optic sensing technology. A non-intrinsic Fabry-Perot strain sensor is embedded inside the steel tube, thus monitoring the tensile or compressive motion of the spot-welded sensor.

FISO's fiber optic technology is patented. Based on this patented technology, SFO-W fiber optic strain sensors can be installed up to 3 km away from the signal conditioner. This makes fiber optic sensors the best choice for monitoring civil structures.

One of the design goals of the SFO-W sensor is easy installation without the need for skilled welders. Using SFO-W sensors allows long-term and accurate strain measurement on various structures. They can be installed on flat or cylindrical surfaces.

The SFO-W fiber optic strain sensor has a sensitivity and accuracy of 0.01% of full scale, and its measurement range is up to 2000 με.
