The electrode operates with 4-electrode technology: a constant voltage AC current is generated between the primary graphite electrode pair. The secondary platinum electrode pair adjusts the voltage imposed on the primary electrodes, reflecting fouling. The voltage measured between the primary electrodes is related to the resistance and conductivity at their location.
